Best Time to Visit Ujjain

The peak time for Ujjain tourism is between October and March (winter season) as the weather remains pleasant during this time. It is considered the perfect time for sightseeing as you’ll have to worry about neither scorching sun nor chilly air. Kal Bhairav Temple

This is another famous temple in Ujjain, which is dedicated to Kal Bhairav, one of the eight attendants of Lord Shiva. This temple is believed to have been built by King Bhadrasen of Mahishmati, which is currently known as Maheshwar. Like other prominent temples in the town, the Kal Bhiarav temple is also mentioned in Hindu scriptures like Avanti Khanda of the Skanda Purana, which further contributes to its popularity.

Ved Shala

Also referred to as Jantar Mantar, Ved Shala is a popular tourist attraction in the city. This is an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II (also known as Sawai Jai Singh) in 1725. Featuring 13 architectural astronomical instruments, this structure was originally built to help Indian astronomers in their research of celestial bodies. Bhartrihari Caves

This ashram is known for its association with the great Indian epic Mahabharata. It is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna received his education along with his brother Balram. Currently, this sacred site is home to a temple dedicated to Maharishi Sandipani, the revered guru of Lord Krishna.

By Air: Located at an approximate distance of 55 kilometres, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore, is the nearest one to Ujjain. You can easily find direct/connecting flights to this airport from all major Indian cities and upon reaching there, you can either take a bus or hire a taxi to Ujjain.

By train: Being a part of the Western Railway Zone, Ujjain Railway Junction is the main station that serves the town. It is well connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, etc., and you can find several trains to reach here.

By Road: Ujjain is connected to various nearby cities such as Indore, Bhopal, etc., through well-maintained roads. Apart from hired taxis and personal vehicles, you can also consider taking a private/public bus to reach here as the city offers efficient transportation services.
