Madhya Pradesh, being located in the heart of India, is often referred to as the ‘Heart of India.’
The state offers a diverse range of attractions, from Jyotirlingas and ancient caves to thrilling jungle safaris. Its rich cultural heritage is evident in its palaces, forts, temples, and stupas. The famous Khajuraho temples and Bhimbetka rock shelters are significant landmarks here. The Narmada River, originating in Madhya Pradesh, is the lifeline of the region. The breathtaking Dhuandhar Waterfall, formed by its flow, is a must-visit sight. Two of the twelve Jyotirlingas are found here, Mahakaleshwar Temple and Omkareshwar, located at the confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers.

Madhya Pradesh is a land that cherishes music, art, and culture. It is renowned for its classical and folk music. The legendary singers Tansen and Baiju Bawra hailed from Gwalior. Additionally, the state is the birthplace of many prominent figures, including Chandrashekhar Azad, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, and Jaya Bachchan. The region also has a rich legacy of the Shinde and Holkar dynasties. Maheshwar is known as the land of Ahilyabai Holkar and is also famous for its exquisite Maheshwari sarees.

Indore, a vibrant city in the state, is a paradise for street food lovers. The Sarafa Bazaar comes alive after 10 PM, offering delicacies like dosas, pav bhaji, momos, and more. Another foodie hotspot is 56 Dukaan (56 Shops), featuring a variety of well-known eateries.

Madhya Pradesh is also home to several renowned national parks. It has the highest tiger population in India, earning it the title of Tiger State. Wildlife enthusiasts can embark on thrilling safaris in Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha Tiger Reserve, Panna National Park, and Satpura Tiger Reserve. The Pench National Park is another major attraction, where visitors can spot the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger.

Oh! I didn’t know this…

Did you know that Postojna Caves is one of the largest cave systems in Europe accessible to tourists? Located near Postojna in Slovenia, these caves are estimated to be around 20 million years old and stretch over 24 km (more than 15 miles). The caves were first discovered in 1818.

A unique feature of the Postojna Caves is its underground train ride, the only one of its kind in the world. Originally introduced in 1872 as a hand-pushed cart, it was electrified in 1924 to become the world’s only underground train system for tourists. Visitors can explore 5.3 km of the cave during a 90-minute guided tour, with 3.7 km covered by train and the rest on foot.

The caves are home to a fascinating species called Olms, blind amphibians also known as baby dragons. These creatures can live for 100 years and survive up to 10 years without food.

One of the highlights of the cave formations is the brilliant white stalagmites, composed of pure calcite. These glisten under the lights, creating a magical spectacle. The caves were formed by the erosion caused by the Pivka River, which still flows through them. Even today, scientists continue to explore new tunnels and chambers deep within the system.

During World War II, German forces used the caves as a fuel storage depot. Just 9 km from the Postojna Caves is the Predjama Castle, which is connected to the cave system by a secret underground tunnel network. In medieval times, these tunnels served as escape routes during enemy sieges.

One of the most breathtaking sections of the caves is the Spaghetti Hall, known for its delicate and intricate rock formations. Every December, the caves come alive with a grand Nativity scene performance featuring artists and musicians. The event transforms the caves into a mesmerizing Christmas wonderland. The Concert Hall inside the caves has extraordinary acoustics, allowing even a whisper to be heard 40 meters away. This hall hosts live concerts, making it one of the most unique concert venues in the world.

Veena World Travel Mission - 100 Country Club

The Secret to a Happy Life

Life should have meaning, and travel gives it that meaning. I have taken numerous international tours with Veena World because travelling with them is incredibly safe. Once you select a tour and make the payment, all you have to do is follow their tagline: *"Pack your bags and set off!"* From Mumbai to Mumbai, their team takes care of everything. Their tour managers also look after tourists with great warmth and responsibility. That’s why, in the future, I will always choose to travel with them.

I am Ketaki Rane, a resident of Malad. Veena World's sales office is located near my house, and I have booked all my tours from there. Travelling has been my passion since childhood. I grew up watching my father trek to the peak of Kalsubai. Sometimes, I would join him, and that’s when I decided that when I grow up, I will travel just like my father and explore different destinations. Another important reason I chose Veena World is that Veena Patil is my role model. It’s truly inspiring how she has built such a vast travel empire.

My first international tour was to Bangkok-Pattaya! Back then, I was a little nervous and had many questions in mind, but the tour manager guided me well, making me feel comfortable. Now, I have set a goal to visit 100 countries before I grow old! I have loved every country I have visited so far. In Bangkok, I had a blast doing underwater activities and parasailing at Coral Island. In Turkey, I was fascinated by the Blue Mosque. During my trip to Singapore, I visited Universal Studios and didn’t miss a single ride!

When I travel, I don’t shop much. I only buy souvenirs and magnets from each country as a memory. Seeing the Eiffel Tower is my dream, and I also wish to go to Turkey and try authentic baklava.

Travel broadens your perspective and helps you make new friends from different cultures. You meet people from diverse backgrounds and realize that there’s so much to see beyond India. You also get a glimpse of different lifestyles. Travelling helps you break free from routine, refresh your mind, and return re-energized.

This May, I am set to embark on a Europe tour. My goal is to explore as much of the world as possible and keep discovering new experiences!

Places and people are two things that interest me the most. While places have taken care of themselves, here are my articles through which I can share some interesting stories I live and love on a daily basis with all you wonderful people out there.
