2. Dhuandhar Waterfalls

If Jabalpur district had a popular sight that it is identified with, that would be the Dhuandhar Falls. This is a very famous waterfall on a local sightseeing tour in Jabalpur. The term Dhuandhar is derived from two Hindi words - Dhuan (smoke) + Dhar (flow) which means a waterfall. This waterfall is located on Narmada River in Bhedaghat which is 30 meters high. Making way through the world-famous Marble Rocks, Narmada River narrows down and then plunges to a waterfall whose roar can be heard from a significant distance.

People prefer visiting this place in Sharad Purnima when Narmada Mahotsava is celebrated. The white marbles appear spectacular during nights when the moonlight falls on them, lending them a silver-like appearance.

For visiting the other side of this waterfall, one can take the cable car service or ropeway facility available at the entrance gate of Bhedaghat. This waterfall is considered a very important place to visit and thus, most Jabalpur tourism packages have this included within their itineraries.

3. Dumna Nature Reserve

4. Moonlit Marble Mountains at Bhedaghat

The Marble Rocks located at Bhedaghat in the Jabalpur district is also known as a ‘moonlit marble mountain’. One of the most spectacular local sightseeing places in Jabalpur, this is located about 25 km away from the main city. Resting on the banks of Narmada River, these marble rock mountains rise as high as 100 feet.

The best time to visit this site in the late afternoon. At that time, you can enjoy a magnificent view of pristine marbles and the joyful river waters. The marble stones reflect different colours in different lights which are divine to look at. Most people visit this place for enjoying the view of the mighty Narmada River which is surrounded by magical mountains on moonlit nights through boat rides.

5. The Balancing Rock

Local sightseeing in Jabalpur is incomplete without visiting the Balancing Rock that mainly features a big rock sitting over a huge rock base. The point of contact between both the two rocks is merely 6 square inches. These rocks do not lose their balance even after an earthquake of a magnitude of 6.2 and have survived many earthquakes, thus it is strongly believed that nothing can disturb the balancing power of these rocks.
