Hong Kong Disneyland: An Insider Guide for Buying Tickets, Rides, & Dining

7 mins. read

Flaunting the title of “The Pearl of the Orient”, Hong Kong exhibits frenetic energy owing to its lofty skyscrapers, cultural heritage, picturesque vistas, ambrosial delicacies, adventurous experiences, vibrant street shops, arty alley murals, and funky graffiti walls. But what makes Hong Kong the best tourist spot for a family jaunt is the fact that the city houses the mystic Disneyland.

Out of a dozen parks in the entire world, Hong Kong is one of the three Asian cities to house the ever-famous Disneyland. Carved up into seven Disney-themed spaces – Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Toy Story Land, Adventureland, Mystic Point and Grizzly Gulch, you are bound to find yourself into a whimsical tale featuring all your favourite Disney characters. So, if you are planning to visit the city, this must be on your places to visit in Hong Kong. Here is a well-etched guide to make your sojourn a remarkable one: -

1. Tickets

You can book your Hong Kong Disneyland tickets a month prior to your visit. The entry fee to your Hong Kong Disneyland is the key to a day full of roller-coaster rides, water-slides, and live shows by your favourite Disney characters. You can explore all the seven fun lands at Hong Kong Disneyland.

At the Toy Story Land, you can watch a bunch of live shows by Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Mr Potato Head, and Slinky Dog. Also, do not forget to hop on the big-drop thrill ride and the parachute drop with the Toy Soldiers. At the Disney Animation Academy, you can learn how to draw your favourite Disney character in a 20-minute, hands-on presentation. Next, you can indulge in the water-logged fun rides at Grizzly Gulch where you can scream your lungs out at a steep descent.  So, buy that ticket and leave all your worries behind before you enter this magical kingdom!

2. Things to Do

2.1  Watch Parades at the Mainstreet, USA

Each day you can witness your favourite Disney and Pixar characters at the parades at the Mainstreet, USA that go down the alley thrice every day. The first parade ‘the Flight of Fantasy’ starts at 4 pm which is followed by We Love Mickey! show at 7 pm. Then it is time for one of the most impressive parades of the day – Paint the Night with neon-lit floaters and acrobatic dancers featuring your beloved characters. So be sure you nab a perfect spot to witness each glimpse of these ethereal parades.

2.2 Shop for Disney Souvenirs

Hong Kong Disneyland is filled with a plethora of souvenir stores where you can pick some Disney-themed goodies for your kith and kin back home. Right from Marvel mementos at the Expo Shop to charmed knick-knacks at Andy’s Toy Box, this place is chock full of memorabilia that will help you cherish the moments you spent in this whimsical utopia.

2.3 Hop on the Hyperspace Mountain Ride

Although Hong Kong Disneyland Park is filled with exhilarating rides, the Hyperspace Mountain is one of the most adrenaline-charged roller coaster rides here. Initially known as Space Mountain, the ride is now updated to integrate a Star Wars storyline. Located in Tomorrowland, the Hyperspace Mountain roller coaster has some of the tightest turns, mysterious loops, and steepest falls; all of this, while you try to dodge the blaster shots fired between X-wings and Tie fighters. Phew! If you are up for some thrill, then be sure that this is a part of your Hong Kong Disneyland tour.

2.4 Witness the Nano Battle

If you are a Marvel fanatic then you must visit the brand-new Marvel-themed attraction – Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle. Hop on the moving pod and get ready for blast-off where you fight off “Swarmbots” sent by Hydra with a laser gun or EMP Blaster! While you are at it, make sure you also visit The Iron Man Experience where you can fly along with your favourite metal-garbed superhero.

2.5 Watch “Disney in the Stars” Fireworks

The best way to bid adieu this magical place is by watching the mesmerizing ‘Disney in the Stars’ fireworks. Set against the backdrop of Sleeping Beauty Castle, the fireworks at Hong Kong Disneyland is indeed one of the most magical experiences. Special occasions like Christmas and New Year's Eve would have much more of such majestic firework shows. Also, the Halloween version is exceptional and a must-watch.  While the fireworks adore the sky above you, the music, lights, and alluring colour effects projected on to the facade of the castle make it completely awe-inspiring.  Now, that is what we call a ‘happy ending’.

7. Dining

7.1 Crystal Lotus

Crystal Lotus is a chic Chinese restaurant that is known for its Disney-themed dim sums. Apart from this, you must also try some of their specialities like Mickey’s double-layer turnip and taro pudding, Baymax bun, and Three Little Pigs barbecue pork bun. For dessert, you can relish the scrumptious Tsum Tsum chilled pudding.

7.2 Chef Mickey

Chef Mickey serves Chinese and international buffets which you can relish for breakfast and dinner. The place is quite vibrant which bestows a chirpy vibe to the eatery. You can also witness your chefs in full swing at the open-air show kitchen while the dishes are displayed in a classic buffet layout. Don’t be surprised if you come across Chef Mickey himself roaming around and bussing tables. This is bound to be one of the highlights of your Hong Kong tour package.

7.3 Enchanted Garden

Enchanted Garden is a Victorian-styled restaurant located at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is one of the most popular eateries here and usually gets booked well in advance. You can enjoy your breakfast here with steamed buns, pork ribs, eggs, yam cake, waffles, pancakes water chestnut cake as well as fresh fruits. You can also get a picture clicked with your favourite character at the Disney character meet and greet. Since this is a Victorian-styled restaurant, each character can be seen in Victorian attires which give them a new yet vintage look.

Hong Kong Disneyland has it all. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie, someone who is looking for a fun family holiday or just want some mystical pictures for your Instagram, Hong Kong Disneyland is the place you need to be. After all, it is the “Happiest Place on Earth”! We hope that this will help you plan your trip to Hong Kong Disneyland and explore this whimsical place in the best way.
