• Vienna:
The city of Vienna reveals a glorious past, which was once the hub of a vast empire. A tour of the old town, as part of your Austrian package, lets you discover architectural gems such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Imperial Palace. This area is really popular among honeymooners and can be included in Austria honeymoon package.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral:
The St. Stephan’s Cathedral is seven centuries old and is considered to be one of the most distinguished landmarks in the country. Gush over the majestic gothic architecture of the place with its splendid Giant Gate and the Tower of the Heathens. Baroque altarpieces were added in the 18th century. If you are up for it, try climbing 343 steps up to the tower to enjoy a matchless view of the city. The cathedral is not without its secrets. There’s a network of catacombs underneath the giant structure. Boomer Bell, Austria’s largest Bell is located here.
Imperial Palace:
A palace doesn’t get more imperial than this. Also known as the Hofburg Palace, it was once home to the Habsburg Dynasty rulers and now it is official presidential residence. This palace, located in central Vienna, was built in the 13th century.
Schonbrunn Palace:
It was the summer residence of the Habsburg rulers and has a staggering structure of 1441 rooms. The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and has a famous fountain - Neptune fountain and many sculptures and artefacts.
Vienna State Opera:
An activity to be included in Austria trip packages is Vienna State Opera. A visit to Vienna would be incomplete without visiting the Vienna State Opera which was built between 1861 and 1869. If you are lucky, you may be able to catch a grand performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. It has also been the venue for the Vienna Opera Ball for many decades now.
The Prater: Enjoy a gorgeous day by visiting the Public Park of Prater. It is also an amusement park and people are drawn to it mainly because of the star attraction - a giant Ferris wheel called the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris Wheel. The park also houses a museum and a planetarium.
• Innsbruck:
It is an important destination for tourism in Austria. What makes the city of Innsbruck really important is that it lies at the intersection of two very important routes - Germany and Italy and between Vienna and Switzerland. Most of the buildings are done in the Gothic style but this city is not just about architecture alone. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, owing to the many surrounding mountains, Innsbruck is an idyllic place and home to The Nordkette, Saile and the Serles group, and Patscherkofel mountains. Patscherkofelis is a popular skiing destination. You may enjoy the scenic locales in a cable car or taking a hike in Nordkette. Similar to Vienna in many ways, there are plenty of churches and palaces. Some of them worthy of a visit are The Golden Roof, Ambras Castle or Schloss Ambras, Court Church or the Hofkirche, Innsbruck Cathedral, and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds) is housed in the village of Wattens which produces the world-famous Swarovski crystals. Apart from all these, there are many delightful cafes and eateries which can be explored by visitors.
